The Center for Journalism & Democracy will Host its 4th Annual Democracy Summit on Oct. 6th at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The Summit starts at 9a and will stream all day.
With journalists and newsrooms across the country fighting to defend press freedom, the Democracy Summit will feature substantive conversations examining the growing threats to journalism and democratic institutions and how journalists and news organizations can respond. As the 2026 midterm elections approach, join newsroom executives, domestic and international journalists, legal scholars and democracy leaders for a full day of learning, strategy and preparation focused on press freedom, election coverage and democratic resilience.
This year's Democracy Summit will include:
- Conversations with the nation's leading voices in media and journalism
- Timely discussions on press attacks, democratic erosion and the fight to defend journalism
- Exchanges with international journalists sharing lessons on democratic backsliding and recovery
- A real-time election reporting scenario to stress-test your decision desk preparedness
- A live newsroom simulation testing editorial and legal judgment
More than 250 journalists gathered from across the country for a day of learning and discussion from some of the top experts in their fields for the last summit. It is time to gather again. Join us.
